Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Lightning Wash, our services, memberships, and mobile detailing.

Mobile Service & Service Area

  • Is Lightning Wash a mobile car detailing service?

Yes. Lightning Wash is a fully mobile car detailing service that comes to your home, workplace, or another approved location. We bring the water, power, equipment, and professional products needed to complete the service.

  • What areas does Lightning Wash serve?

Lightning Wash provides mobile car detailing in Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake, and select nearby areas. Availability can vary by address, so customers near the edge of the service area should confirm coverage before booking.

  • Do you provide mobile detailing in Spokane Valley?

Yes. Spokane Valley is Lightning Wash’s primary service area. We provide mobile interior and exterior detailing at homes, workplaces, and other suitable locations throughout the area.

  • Do you provide mobile detailing in Liberty Lake?

Yes. Lightning Wash also serves Liberty Lake, subject to appointment availability and a safe, permitted place to work.

  • Can you detail my vehicle at my home or workplace?

Yes. We can detail your vehicle at your home or workplace as long as the vehicle is accessible and the property allows mobile detailing. A driveway or private parking area is usually ideal.

  • Can you detail a vehicle at an apartment or office parking lot?

Often, yes. The property must permit mobile detailing, and there must be enough safe working space around the vehicle. Customers should obtain property approval when required.

  • Do you need access to my water or electricity?

No. Lightning Wash brings its own water and power, so you do not need to provide a hose or electrical outlet.

  • Do I need to be present during the detail?

No. You do not need to remain on-site as long as we have access to the vehicle and any necessary instructions before the appointment begins.

  • What should I do before you arrive?

Please remove personal belongings, valuables, car seats, and anything else you do not want moved or cleaned around. Make sure the vehicle is accessible and that we have any keys or entry instructions needed for the service.

Services & What’s Included

  • What does Lightning Wash do?

Lightning Wash provides mobile interior and exterior car detailing designed to get everyday vehicles clean and keep them consistently clean through recurring maintenance.

  • What is included in a Lightning Wash detail?

Each full detail includes thorough cleaning of the vehicle’s interior and exterior. Exact steps vary by service and vehicle condition, but typically include an exterior wash, wheels and tires, exterior protection, vacuuming, interior surfaces, floor mats, glass, and detailed cleaning of cracks and crevices.

  • Do you clean both the interior and exterior?

Yes. Our standard service addresses both the interior and exterior so the entire vehicle is maintained together. During winter operations, exterior service may be limited by weather and temperature.

  • How is mobile detailing different from a drive-through car wash?

A drive-through car wash mainly cleans the outside of the vehicle. Lightning Wash cleans both the interior and exterior, addresses areas automated washes do not reach, and performs the service at your location.

  • What does “express mobile detailing” mean?

Express mobile detailing refers to an efficient, repeatable process built for everyday vehicles. It does not mean a rushed wipe-down; it means we use a focused process to deliver professional results without the all-day timeline of restoration-level detailing.

  • Do you offer interior-only or exterior-only detailing?

Lightning Wash primarily focuses on complete interior and exterior service so the whole vehicle stays consistently clean. Seasonal operations or special circumstances may change the service emphasis, but standalone partial details are not the core offering.

  • Do you shampoo carpets and cloth seats?

Carpet and seat shampooing or extraction may be available as an add-on when deeper fabric cleaning is needed. It is not automatically included in every standard detail, and results depend on the material, stain type, age, and severity.

  • Can you remove stains, odors, or pet hair?

We can address light pet hair, minor spots, and normal everyday buildup. Heavy pet hair, deep stains, smoke, biological contamination, or severe odors may require additional time, an add-on service, or a specialist.

  • Do you clean wheel wells?

Yes. Accessible wheel wells are included in the exterior cleaning process. Excessive mud or unusually heavy buildup may require additional time or an added fee.

  • Do you clean truck beds?

Yes, uncovered truck beds can usually be rinsed and cleaned as part of the exterior service. The bed must be emptied before the appointment, and heavy debris, grease, construction material, or specialty coatings may require separate evaluation.

  • Do you offer engine-bay cleaning?

No. Lightning Wash does not currently offer engine-bay cleaning.

  • Do you offer paint correction or ceramic coatings?

No. Lightning Wash focuses on cleaning and recurring maintenance rather than restoration services such as paint correction or ceramic coatings.

Memberships & Reset Details

  • What is a Lightning Wash detailing membership?

A Lightning Wash membership is a recurring mobile detailing plan that keeps your vehicle consistently clean on a weekly, every-two-weeks, or monthly schedule. Memberships are billed monthly.

  • How do Lightning Wash memberships work?

You choose a service frequency based on how often you want the vehicle cleaned. The first visit establishes a clean baseline, and scheduled maintenance visits help prevent the vehicle from returning to a heavily soiled condition.

  • What is a reset detail?

A Reset Detail is the initial service that brings the vehicle to a clean, maintainable baseline. It gives us the time needed to address accumulated buildup before recurring maintenance begins.

  • Is the reset detail included with a membership?

Yes. The initial reset detail is part of starting a Lightning Wash membership, but we charge a one-time $99 initial reset fee, which covers the additional time and labor needed to establish a clean, maintainable baseline before recurring visits begin.

  • What is the difference between a one-time detail and a membership?

A one-time reset detail is a single, standalone deep-cleaning service with no ongoing visits. A membership also begins with an initial reset detail, charged through a one-time $99 initial reset fee, but then continues with scheduled maintenance visits designed to keep the vehicle consistently clean at a lower cost per visit.

  • Why choose a membership instead of one-time detailing?

A membership is designed for customers who want their vehicle to stay clean rather than repeatedly waiting until it needs another major reset. It offers recurring convenience, a lower cost per visit, and a consistent service schedule.

  • Do I need a membership to use Lightning Wash?

No. Customers can book a one-time Reset Detail without joining a membership. Memberships are available for customers who want ongoing scheduled maintenance.

  • Is there a long-term contract?

No. Lightning Wash memberships do not require a long-term contract. Customers can cancel at any time, subject to the appointment cancellation policy for any already-scheduled service.

  • Can I have memberships for more than one vehicle?

Yes. Each vehicle has its own membership and service schedule. Additional eligible vehicle memberships receive a multi-vehicle discount.

  • How often should I have my vehicle detailed?

The right frequency depends on how the vehicle is used. Weekly or every-two-weeks service works well for high-use family, work, or pet vehicles, while monthly service is often enough for lighter everyday use.

Pricing, Payment & Policies

  • How much does mobile car detailing cost?

Lightning Wash pricing depends on vehicle size, service type, condition, and visit frequency. Current one-time and membership pricing is shown before booking so customers can review the cost for their vehicle category.

  • Do larger vehicles cost more?

Yes. Larger trucks, SUVs, and vans generally require more time and materials than smaller vehicles, so pricing is based partly on vehicle size. Lifted or substantially modified vehicles may also include a surcharge.

  • Do you offer multi-vehicle discounts?

Yes. Additional eligible vehicle memberships receive a 10% discount. One-time multi-vehicle appointments may also qualify for package savings when the vehicles are serviced together.

  • When do I pay?

One-time services are paid after the work is completed. Memberships are billed monthly through the payment method connected to the plan.

  • How can I pay?

Lightning Wash accepts cash and card payments, including on-site electronic payment after eligible services are completed.

  • What is your appointment cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling an appointment. Late cancellations or changes may result in a fee because that appointment time was reserved specifically for your vehicle.

  • Do you offer a referral program?

Yes. Existing customers can refer a friend using a Lightning Wash referral card or by having the new customer provide the referring customer’s name when booking. When the referral requirements are met, both customers receive a discount.

  • Do you accept tips?

Yes. Tips are never expected, but they are always appreciated if you feel we provided excellent service.

Vehicles, Condition & Special Requests

  • What types of vehicles do you detail?

Lightning Wash works on most everyday passenger vehicles, including cars, crossovers, SUVs, pickup trucks, and passenger vans.

  • Do you detail trucks and large SUVs?

Yes. Trucks and SUVs are a major part of our work. Pricing is based on vehicle size, and lifted or substantially modified vehicles may require a surcharge.

  • Do you detail luxury vehicles?

Yes. Lightning Wash can service luxury cars, SUVs, and trucks as long as the requested work fits our standard cleaning and maintenance services.

  • Do you detail motorcycles, boats, RVs, or semi-trucks?

No. Lightning Wash focuses on standard passenger vehicles and does not typically service motorcycles, boats, recreational vehicles, or semi-trucks.

  • Can you detail a very dirty or neglected vehicle?

It depends on the condition. We can handle normal accumulated dirt and everyday use, but vehicles requiring restoration, hazardous cleanup, severe odor remediation, or extreme extraction may be outside our service scope.

  • Do you perform restoration-level detailing?

No. Lightning Wash is built around thorough cleaning and ongoing maintenance for everyday vehicles. We do not specialize in extreme restoration, biohazard cleanup, major mold remediation, paint correction, or similar specialty work.

  • Are the products you use safe?

Yes. We use professional-grade products selected for automotive surfaces and apply them according to their intended use. Customers should tell us in advance about unusual materials, aftermarket finishes, or known sensitivities.

  • How long does a detail take?

Service time depends on vehicle size, condition, and whether the appointment is a Reset Detail or a maintenance visit. Maintenance visits can be completed much faster, while an initial Reset Detail may take several hours.

Weather & Winter Detailing

  • What happens if it rains?

Light weather does not always require cancellation, but rain, wind, smoke, extreme heat, or unsafe conditions can affect the service. We may adjust the appointment, focus on work that can be completed safely, or reschedule.

  • Do you provide mobile detailing during winter?

Yes. Lightning Wash continues serving members during winter. Appointments focus primarily on the interior, and when conditions allow, we also provide a lighter exterior service designed to remove topical winter dirt, road grime, and surface buildup.

  • What happens to my membership during winter?

Memberships continue on their normal monthly billing schedule during winter. From approximately November through March, appointments focus primarily on the interior, with a lighter exterior cleaning included when weather and temperatures allow.

  • Can you detail a vehicle when temperatures are below freezing?

Exterior detailing may not be safe or practical below freezing because water can freeze on the vehicle or surrounding surfaces. In those conditions, we will focus on the seasonal interior service and provide the lighter exterior cleaning only when it can be completed safely.
